Crappie Catching Orlando Fishing Report

Crappie Catching Orlando Fishing Report

A Happy New Year to all my readers. Best wishes to all for plenty of fishing time and some memorable fish.

I got the following email this week from reader Dana Fogle:

“Hi Captain, I just received a beautiful rod and reel that was fished up in the Canal this week by a non fly fisherman!

“It is good quality, and while I am an avid fly fisherman, some guy would undoubtedly love to have his rig back, as an unexpected Xmas present!

“Could you put a small squib in your next missive, alerting fly fishermen that by identifying the rod and reel, it will be delivered here in central Florida to its owner.

“Thanks very much for your help-Merry Christmas   Dana Fogle 386-235-5210 Deland Fl”

Mr. Fogle is an honest man, that’s what I think. And to think, fishermen have been accused of being big fat liars!

Fishing this week was awesome. Catching, however, was crappie. I fished a half day Thursday, a half day Friday, and a full day Saturday, for a grand total of four short redfish, about two dozen short trout, and two legal trout. There was a little flounder and a pinfish in there, too. Glad I was on the water, but fishing was terrible.

Clyde got the fish of the week by using a DOA Shrimp.

Since misery loves company I called three friends, all of who are serious anglers and good fishermen. One who fished Friday said, “Worst day I had all year.” One who fished Wednesday said, “Did not catch a fish.” One who fished Saturday said, “All I got were two pecker trout.”

On the bright side, it can only get better.

That, my friends, is the Crappie Catching Orlando Fishing Report.

Life is great and I love my work!

Life is short- Go Fishing!

  1. If you are just starting out with fishing, don’t overload your tackle box. You can find millions of different types of bait and pieces of equipment in the fishing supply store. Though they all serve a purpose, you don’t necessarily need every piece. Start with a handful of different types of bait and a few different sized hooks and weights. You can always add more later once you have fine tuned your list of necessary products.
