The Story of SexyFlies For the fly fisherman, a fly has to do at least these three things- be easy to cast, not fall apart too quicly, and attract the attention of a fish and hopefully coax it to strike. If the fly can avoid getting hung on grass, roots, oysters, etc., and still hook the fish, that's a big bonus. I've been tying flies since my age was in single digits. For the vast majority of that time I used natural materials, and my unspoken motto was, "Tie ugly!" I wanted my flies to work well in the water, and if they looked a little rough that was OK. I wasn't trying to sell them, and the fish usually responded favorably. Then I discovered modern synthetics. Once I figured out how to properly use these materials, my flies were suddenly beautiful, by far the best looking flies I had ever tied. I would look at them in wonder and think to myself, "I can't believe I tied this. What a sexy fly!" My son Maxx and I began referring to them as sexy flies, and the name just stuck. We think that when you see them you'll agree. They are very Sexy Flies!
