General Fishing Information

Spotted Tail Fishing Charters offers guided fishing trips on the Indian River Lagoon, Banana River Lagoon, and Mosquito Lagoon (all part of the Indian River Lagoon system). We also venture out into near-shore Atlantic waters when the weather and seas allow us to do so safely.

All these angling destinations are less than an hour's drive east of Orlando (click HERE for directions).

We specialize in sight fishing, both fly fishing and light tackle fishing. The lagoon system here averages three feet deep. Most of the time we'll be on either the Mosquito Lagoon or Indian River Lagoon. The aesthetics are wonderful, since the surrounding lands include the Canaveral National Seashore, the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge, and the Kennedy Space Center.

Fishing changes with the seasons. Our "claim to fame" are the giant redfish that are essentially landlocked in the lagoon system. With the right weather you can find these fish in about two feet of water on any day of the year. We also have more modestly sized redfish and seatrout year-round, and tarpon, snook, crevalle, ladyfish, and other assorted species in season.

Please use the navigation bar at right to find the answers to any questions you may have about skiff trips, kayak or canoe trips, tarpon fishing, appropriate fishing tackle, what to bring, where to stay, how the fishing has been, or how to contact us if you can't find the answer to your question here.

I view guiding as a service business, and although I specialize in fly fishing I also cater to spin and plug anglers. I can supply all tackle, or you can bring your own.

Mr. Radloff, different day, different fish, same happy feeling!
